Background
Berry Medicine Native BirthWork Initiatives is an emerging, Indigenous-led nonprofit grounded in the belief that birthing people are sacred and birth is ceremony. Originally launched as the Native American Initiatives (NAI) program under Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies – The Montana Coalition in 2023, Berry Medicine is now transitioning into a fully independent organization—Montana’s first Indigenous-led birthwork nonprofit.
Our work supports Indigenous BirthWorkers and community leaders in addressing maternal health disparities through culturally grounded care, organizing, and policy change.
